A Little History

Starting out with painting portraits of animals and people, Helen developed a keen eye for working with nature, and she has been lucky enough to spend her time in many beautiful places, always seeking out a deep connection with her environment.

Originally from Yorkshire she has lived and worked in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland for over 20 years, taking inspiration from the wilderness environments of shore and moorland.

“I have often worked in Oils but a few years back I developed a keen interest in the medium of Textile.  Small landscape abstractions allowed me to capture the colours and textures of the places I studied and these in turn informed all my other creative work.

These days I enjoy the convenience of working with high quality digital mediums which accurately reflect pen and paper, so I’m there still with a pen in hand but it’s just a much cleaner process!   Since moving from the Islands to the Highlands my interest in ceramics has been revived and new pieces, inspired by the native birch woodland, may appear in the shop occasionally.”

Most recently I focus all my “branches” into art pieces which work consciously with Spirit.

I hope you will enjoy the journey with me as it unfolds…”
